  It is with much disappointment that I have to write such a negative review for such a sweet family-owned business that otherwise, I have never really had an issue with, but today's visit was awful. I walked in at roughly 5:40 pm and said I would just like my gel polish and toenail polish replaced and John (whom I have no issue with and does great work) asked an older gentleman to do it. When I looked over, the older man was asleep sitting up in his chair. Asleep? Okay, that's different, but whatever - not a deal breaker. I assume that he tells him I would like gel polish on my fingernails and regular polish on my toenails, of course. So I sit and he starts filing the existing gel and along with my skin. HARD. In my head, I'm like "oh my god, ouchhh." It seriously hurt. Well then I look down and the skin on one of my fingers started BLEEDING where it attaches to the nail. He doesn't skip a beat and shoves my fingers down in the soak bowl. BURN. Ouch! I assume he will start on my toes while my nails are soaking, but doesn't. Okay... Maybe he's going to work on someone else and come back? When he comes back he continues on my nails. He asks the usual, "cut down?" And I returned with, "BARELY. Keep them long please." I've been taking a supplement that's allowed my nails to grow like never before and I was SO proud of them, and I'm certain that he interpreted "keep them long" as, "cut them all the way down." I was so upset at this point, but I maintained my composure as I'm a very pleasant person and not one to make a scene... Well then he started painting the gel on... I have chunks of gel sticking out from under my fingernail tips, gel hanging off the side of my fingernails, etc. This man was literally holding the brush sideways to paint. It was very awkward and you could tell he wasn't as comfortable as John or his wife is at what he does. So in turn, he would have to take the brush with polish remover on it to fix where he brushed polish all over my skin every single time he painted a nail, which made these skinny lines of polish in the corners of my nail that are dried now. He says "all done." And I'm like, "toes?" Then John says something to him which I assume is, "you're supposed to do her toes too." So then he comes back and asks, "toes?" Then he just paints them in the middle of the shop floor. When I left I was so disappointed, but more aggravated at myself for not saying anything. When I got home, I looked down and my first toe was already demolished, which could have been avoided if he would have just done my toes while my nails were originally soaking because they would have been pretty dry by the time I left. I hate to avoid a business because of one person, but when you have a very busy work life and make the time to have this done, there's no room or time for error and I don't have the time to wait on John or his wife to become available every time I go. I expect to have the same quality by every employee, right? Again, I have always been pleased with this place, but again I have always been lucky enough to have John or his wife do my nails... I may go back tomorrow and see if John can fix the chunks of gel and the demolished toenail, but I certainly don't want to come off as snobby or whatever, I just simple wanted a halfway decent nail job.
